When different dignitaries have visited Fuengirola, including Spanish Minister of Tourism Mr. Alfredo Sanchez Bella in May 1970, Edward Heath, etc., the Mayor of Fuengirola has always brought them to Pueblo Lopez. Bryan Hindson was proud to repeat what the minister said: "Pueblo Lopez is an example of the sort of development the Costa del Sol needs", and in fact still needs nowadays.

On 24th June 1994, a group of friends, family, local residents and municipal dignitaries gathered in Pueblo Lopez to pay tribute to the memory of its founder. A plaque was unveiled and the occasion was marked by the renaming of the first square to be built in the pueblo, now called Plaza Juanito Lopez in his honour.
